End of the Summer Term

Tomorrow’s the last class.

This has been my second go-round with the Mass Media and Society class at UCW. Almost half of the course content was new, which makes sense. Last week we went over these stories that had just appeared in the news a day or two before:

* Google Brings Nuclear Power Plant Back from the Dead

* AI and New York Times: “AI Training” Suit

* Australian Users Might Be Able to Opt Out of Algorithms

* Indian Express Newspaper Makes Agreement with OpenAI

* Anthropic Researcher Jacob Coxon Warns AI ‘Will Kill Us All

My students were delightful, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed arriving at 8am on Wednesdays after what was for most of them a long commute to campus. They did some really good work.
